Wow, well said.

The morality play behind all this is pretty fascinating. I'd find pity in the man if he hadn't done so much damage to the psyche of the nation.

It wasn't even so much that he was a terrible president. He was, but there are always bad ones. He ripped the soul of the nation in two - it was ripe for that, but he did the actual deed.

I guess those days of idealism for me perished when I realized I had to become a bit of a political hypocrite. I have a strong socialist streak but found myself working for big companies and later tech companies - the very template for libertarianism, all my life because I like to eat.

But yes, I think our generation still gives thought to those things.

I think the youngest generation does, too but they're so terrified of everything that they can't focus much on anything beyond survival.
