While researching my new novel Restive Souls, I came to the conclusion that the U.S. has already had TWO civil wars over slavery. The first was the Revolutionary War.

During the Revolutionary War, people were very divided. Families against families, etc. Others were very apathetic.

What turned landownders and other mercantilists to the side of the rebels was Dunmore's Proclamation, which offered manumission in return for fighting for the Brits.

The landowner class was livid. We don't hear about this - we hear about the Tea Party instead, because the outrage over losing slaves was suppressed by white historians, the same way Thomas Jefferson having 14 year old slaves working in his nailry and banging his underage slave girls was hidden from view.

Small bit of trivia: The National Heritage Foundation is the birthplace of the ACA. It was the core of Romneycare. The Heritage Foundation turned against it because a Black president got behind it. It really is that simple. I have links for this, but a good Google search will confirm it, and also reveal the original PDF document produced by the Heritage Foundation that paved the way for the ACA (Obamacare).

All white people must take a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of racism. If you find yourself in a minority (I have always lived in big cities and I can tell you, don't worry about it) just chill, for God's sakes. And enjoy the diversity, which is awesome.

After all, who wants to eat nothing but brats and Shepherd's pie and watch a bunch of white women stressing about botox their entire life?
