When I was young I was helped by a friend too, not by money, but by a simple sentence. I had moved away from Chicago to San Francisco and he said during a time of struggle for me, "You can't come back to Chicago with your tail between your legs."

That sounds harsh but it wasn't. He was telling me he believed in me, and he was right. So it helped a lot. I'm glad your friend was there for you. That's pretty amazing.
