When I was a young lad living in Chicago, there was a saying: "Vote early and vote often." There was some truth to it in those days. These days, not so much.

I wrote a fictional story recently that terrified a few people about an apathetic voter who votes for Trump in 2024, for a number of reasons that he explains in the story, whose journalist wife disappears.

We've got to shake people up, especially young people who are fed up with the political system and claim that the two parties are no different from each other.

Part of the problem is that the Democratic Party is a party of corporate interests, but many young people have no sense of history and don't understand the fundamental rights they will lose if Trump returns to office.

Progressives are on their heels, barely standing up these days. The dreams of Berniecrats are long dead. That doesn't mean we give up. We pick ourselves up off the floor, end this national emergency, and start building a better base of responsible leaders like AOC and others like her.
