Wait. The James Patterson who has sold more books than just about anybody on earth? That James Patterson?

The James Patterson who gets other people into the writing biz by having them co-author books with him, thereby giving that author an instant bestseller without lifting a finger?

As an old white guy who is trying to "break-in" late to the writing game, all I can say is rubbish to him.

Diversity is pretty nice. It doesn't block me at all. If anything, the diversity in writing, and in characters, and in storylines, all make me a better writer.

Anybody who's afraid of diversity can just write a better book or whatever. Good stuff will always find a home.
