UPDATE: Former Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White today gave Vallas his endorsement, which will draw Black voters into the Vallas orbit, because White is very popular in the Black community. That sounds funny, doesn't it? Anyway, he's actually popular with all Democrats.

I'm not sure how much that impacts my statement that every Lightfoot voter will vote for Johnson. I would still think most, since both tend to draw folks from the left-most part of the political spectrum (although for Lightfoot, that was probably more true before she got elected than it is now).

But it does impact my statement that there is no front-runner. There is now.

None of this, of course, changes the overall point of the story: that the NY Times was lazy in its reporting.
