Unfortunately, the last I looked, Beto was still well behind in the polls. It can't be a name recognition thing.
You would think that with the grid problems, the property tax hikes, and yes, the immigration issues that Abbott has been promising his right wing followers for years that he'd "fix", but hasn't, Beto would be making more inroads in the poll numbers, but he just isn't doing that.
Texas is turning into Margaret Atwood's worst nightmare, and it isn't the politicians who are making it that way. It's the people who live there.
