This was an excellent movie.

We root for the comet because we so clearly live in a society where narcissism and celebrity have taken full root. This started long before you know who came to office.

I agree, it's not Dr. Strangelove. Not at all. It wasn't meant to be.

It's more like the old movie, Network. Neither were great movies, but both this and Network were very good. They weren't designed to make us laugh. Satire is like that. It's hard to laugh when the movie is reminding so many of us why we doomscroll every day here on Medium and elsewhere.

DiCaprio's character begins nobly enough, but in typical modern American man fashion he lets himself get scooped up by Cate Blanchett's character for all the wrong reasons.

And Blanchett's was such a great performance that even if the movie had been terrible I'd have been glad to see her and Tyler Perry as the corporate, ratings hungry hosts of their quasi-news show.

The movie had a lot to say and did it pretty well, I thought.
