This story is like a small masterclass in writing.
"So I took economics..."
and then
"So I took economics, and the economists told me there is hunger and poverty because of logistics, so I took logistics. "
Wow, I just love that. And it just goes on like that.
Speaking of storytelling: My novel MagicLand is a feel good story, but it is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the ultra wealthy finally throw up their hands on climate change and other scourges, and just exterminate those who can't afford the expensive augmentations the ultra-wealthy develop for themselves (we are already beginning to see this separation).
I wish it was a story about a livable future (it is, but only in a fantastical way and after much devastation).
It would be an interestinig writing challenge to approach a story with a new default setting like you propose.
Seriously, this is the Medium story of the year for me so far.
