This is a great comment. And my reply is not meant as a rebuttal.

But it's a difficult question. Does celebrity reveal the flaws? I doubt celebrity created them (I'm not implying that is your suggestion, at all).

Would other women have been subject to Gaiman's actions outside of the public eye had he not enjoyed his celebrity status?

Would he have simply gotten away with it if his writing exposed him enough to the public to an occasional book signing or workshop that he could have practiced his less respectable craft on women without consequence?

I guess my point is that, although I pretty much abhor our celebrity culture, in this case, perhaps it helped out the rat.

That sounds like a rebuttal. Again, it's not. Really liked the comment. Especially as commentary on our celebrity culture writ large.
