This brings always brings up for me William Julius Wilson's description of the underclass. He was referring to the hopelessness of the inner city, which was brought on by lack of employment opportunities (and racism of course, but the two are connected).

Now today, that underclass is spreading to the coal mines, the farms, the steel factories, etc.

With the spread of the underclass, you get this false narrative that some have pushed since colonial days - the notion that there is this small portion of pie available, and everyone competing with you is an enemy.

But now, it isn't just Blacks and other minorities who are enemies - it is scientists, educated, the "elite", etc. The Deep State is more than an embedded, permanent government - the Deep State is Dr. Fauci, Stephen Hawking, probably even Elon Musk (although if he said the right things, they'd latch on to him).

I actually wrote a Medium article about how we can fix this - by introducing WPA 2.0.

These people don't want to get job training to work in call centers. They want to work with their hands, for the most part. I think if we help them do that, we'd start putting a dent in this thing.
