There's a bumper sticker I saw too many times while living in Texas: "I'm not from Texas, but I got here as fast as I could." Or something like that.

My bumper sticker would read, "I got transferred to Texas, and fuck y'all, I left as quick as I could."

For awhile, when I was living in Austin, I had hopes that fellow techies would turn the place purple. But no, the techies that are attracted to Texas sing the same songs as Elon Musk. If anything, the place has gotten worse since I left.
