There is so much streaming media these days that it seems like there is room for everything.
Unlike a lot of Trek fans, I love Discovery and its fresh take on stuff. Picard, too. Some say Discovery is too dark, but there are, based on your article, what? About 540 hours of Star Trek happy fluff to watch? So, just don't watch Discovery, and you will still get plenty of your fluff. Maybe the next Star Trek series about Captain Pike will better satisfy Trek fans' happy fluff meters. Or maybe not. Who knows? Don't get me wrong, I like the happy fluff, too, but I enjoy a little diversity.
And if you are just tired of all the franchises, I'd say, just look for new stuff. There really is tons of it, especially on Netflix.
There's even stuff for people who love superheroes but are tired of Marvel and DC, like The Boys.
But the franchises are so big that there is an entire streaming network dedicated to almost nothing but the darn things - Disney Plus. Knock that off your subscription list and you eliminate 70% of the franchises.
And without Star Trek, how would Paramount Plus fund the rest of its exemplary lineup of shows? Like...
...hmmm. I can't think of any. Can you?
I mean, they should really just call Paramount Plus "Star Trek+" and be done with it.
