One more thing separates him: At heart, the man is too much of a coward to try to truly pull it off. He's a fascist wannabe, just a part of his carnival barker personality.

But don't underestimate the damage he has done. He has made basic, unarguable facts a contest. He has set the stage for the next potential fascist, who won't be so damn stupid, will have genuine charisma that appeals to a broad audience instead of just a subset of people, and will have the brains to know how to command the security apparatus to do what he wants it to do.
