Jesus only laid out one basic law: that we love everyone. I'm a universalist, meaning that I don't believe in a god who would send anyone to hell. I think the most horrible among us have no souls and are empty biological beings. So no need to worry about them.
Most atheists are atheists because they see the hypocrisy in organized religion, and the kind of frustration you are expressing. I can't imagine a god rejecting those kinds of people.
Where does this sense of right and wrong come from? Does righteous anger grow of its own accord?
