The anomie gripping the country is going to bury us. The word "anomie" is not often seen so I'll provide the definition. I use it because I simply can't think of a better word. "Sickness" might fill the bill. Alien invasion works.

Historians, sociologists, anthropologists, psychiatrists, and others will for decades try to explain the phenomenon that has taken over the large majority of Republican voters. They'll try to explain it by pointing to various things that went wrong for these voters during their lives.

But at the end of the day, they have simply lost their moral compass. They have lost any standard of ethics they once tried to claim.

The country may not actually recover from this, I hate to say. It's a gaping wound, and its toxic cancer is spreading quickly.
