Thanks. Sarah Ruden, in her excellent translation of the Gospels called appropriately enough, The Gospels, makes an observation in her footnotes that Christ could even have been married (not necessarily to Mary M - and in fact almost surely not, since that would have been mentioned).
She points out that it would have been so out of the ordinary for him NOT to have been married, because he being a 30 year old male at the time it would have been expected, that there would have been no reason for the gospel writers to say, "Now, Jesus was married..."
It's more likely that if he WASN'T married, it would have been pointed out.
Now THAT'S interesting :-)
Of course, it's equally possible that the Gospel writers knew that everyone was aware that he wasn't married, so they didn't need to bring that up.
But I love to chew on stuff like that.
