Thanks, Rudy. I think it's good that Europeans learn about the role the U.S. played in WW2. It was something good we did, overall.

It seems that part of history has been lost on many Americans, though. There is not a small segment of the population that thinks it would like a right wing dictatorship. They do not know history - the don't realize the old European adage that this week a fascist government is coming for "the others" but that next week it could be them they come for.

In general, history and geography are covered much more thoroughly in Europe than in the U.S.

A lot of Americans would read your sentence "I am a national of the Netherlands though living in Ireland" and not even know what that means.

"The Netherlands?" They'd ask. "Is that a city in Ireland? Oh. And where is Ireland? Isn't that a neighborhood in Boston?"

It's a sad situation out here across the pond.
