They've never been an aggressive, expansive empire anyway (I guess the people of Tibet might argue with that but in general I still think that statement holds).

A war with Taiwan would be catastrophic in so many ways. The U.S. is much better off "fighting" the Chinese the way friends fight and argue. I'm not a fan of Xi, but he won't last forever. Just try to maintain the relationship as best we can until he passes on.
