Thanks for the compliment and the read. I think I could have done a better job emphasizing that my main objection is with the editorializing in the headline.

The point about crime being the main factor is, to me, arguable. I would argue that it played a role, but that it wasn't the only reason she lost. I wouldn't argue about it vigorously though because crime in Chicago is so bad. So someone could easily make a persuasive argument that she lost because of crime, period, and that's fine.

But it's not fact - it's just an opinion, and it should be made clear in the NY TImes articles. I'll add that there are lots of statistics that suggest that spikes in crime have been related to the pandemic, and these spikes, as the severity of the pandemic has waned, have dropped, almost as if synchronized by a conductor.

It's a different subject, I guess, until it's not. :-)
