Thanks, Caren. We aren't really disagreeing here. As I said in my story, the Dems lost VA because of a "a fight over Toni Morrison's beautifully written novel, Beloved." The book was featured in an anti-CRT ad by Youngkin that kicked off the whole "debate" in VA.

McAuliffe was also a terrible candidate. And an incumbent. Virginians don't re-elect governors as it is. They sure weren't going to hitch themselves up to a retread.

A better, fresher face would have overcome that silly topic.
