Thanks, and I agree. It becomes a matter of degree, I think. I am certainly guilty of coming to conclusions. I do it more than I want to. I live in my own political bubble, and I tend to violate my own norms of cognitive reasoning sometimes when I unpack all the various messages of outrage I run into within that bubble. That's normal, but our current divisiveness makes it harder.
I don't have up close experience on what is being taught in high schools, but when I was in high school there was a heavy emphasis on the humanities and history. From what I've read, that emphasis has died out. I don't know how true that is, but if that's the case, I can see why we're having so much trouble in modern discourse.
