The Publication of My Debut Novel Is Going to Turn Me into a Marketing Hound
What’s next? Spam? Might I even start hawking stuff on TV? Maybe sell the cover image of my books to Nascar drivers?
If you’re an author these days, marketing yourself is a part of the craft.
A lot of us writers aren’t so good at that. We want to write, not hawk our wares like pharmaceutical sales reps.
Oh well. That’s the way it goes. There are now one billion writers in America alone (I know that defies a few demographics charts, but we live in the age of QAnon and a president who belongs in a straightjacket, so what’s the big deal if I manipulate numbers a bit?).
So somehow authors need to surface at least enough to sell a few copies.
My debut novel, MagicLand, will be published by Morgan James Publishing in late 2021. So of course, subscribers to my newsletter will be automatically entered into a pool for a free(!) copy of the hardcover version. I don’t know how many I’ll be giving away yet.
And before I submit the final edits of MagicLand to the publisher, in about a month or so, I’ll offer free(!) downloads of the final edited version to all my newsletter subscribers.
But for now, I begin my marketing journey by offering a free(!) download to my teaser novella for my second novel…
