Sounds terrible to say but it almost is welcoming to know that whites aren't the only ones who have to deal with racist parents. I mean, I knew that, already, so it's more like it's nice to see it in a story.
Your story is a bit more redemptive than mine. My parents expressed hate for everybody that wasn't a light Pantone color. Getting out from under that was like getting free from child abuse.
The only good thing was that they treated my best high school friend, a Black guy, with total respect and were very kind to him. It was kind of strange, but I knew they would, which was why I wasn't afraid to bring him to my house.
