The ultitmate sin for me with American fundamentalists is the number of people they've turned off from Christianity. And by Christianity, I refer to Jesus's message, not the message of any Christian church.

It is an irony that when you mention that someone is Christ-like, they want more information about that person. "Oh, really?" they say, and they perk up.

But if you say, "Follow Christ," they want to run away as fast as they can.
