One difference between a young person and a 60+ year old when it comes to exercise is motive. I work out because I absolutely have to if I don’t want to fall apart and if I want to slow down the deterioration that comes with age.
When I was younger I wanted to be stronger and look better. That was pretty much my motive.
The other main difference for me today is that working out (I prefer some form of weight training) is harder to do. When I was younger, once the routine was established, working out was not only pretty easy, but something I looked forward to. Today, even after a long established routine, it’s a bit of a grind. I’d rather sit on the couch and eat Cheetos.
But I force myself to do it, because I hate hospitals.
