Kentucky was a border state and technically neutral during the Civil War. It was also a slaveholding state. It has definitely become part of the Confederacy since that time. A Confederacy that has spread to other states since Newt Gingrich began the long march toward Trumpism. McConnell is an extension of Newt Gingrich's decision to seize control of local jurisdictions by appealing to white nationalism.
