I've noticed a significant ding in my revenues since the recent change. A story that earned me $1500 before has less engagement and fewer views than a story that has earned me about $500.

By engagement I'm referring to comments, which Medium said they were putting a premium on. And highlights, which they also mentioned. The $1500 story had about 1/3 the engagement and about 1/3 the views.

The $500 story ("Florida is Dying," which was read by many B&B readers), was my most read story in a long time. But its earnings are well below the standard I'm used to seeing. This is basically true for almost every story of mine that isn't "boosted," which seems to arbitrarily and magically boost earnings, no matter how much the boost actually improves readership.

I was actually surprised that "Florida is Dying," wasn't boosted, considering the large number of views it got.
