I've been contending for a long time that the south has never quit the civil war. Its states continually give the middle finger to the constitution. Its white population is full of people who think being white means something.

The North should have formalized a peace treaty that demanded adherence to the constitution. It's never too late. Maybe we should start demanding that now.
