It's not necessarily democracy's decision. Texas could separate and become an authoritarian theocracy overnight.

There are also thousands of other considerations. Quite literally thousands. From managing interstate commerce (would there be free trade? Or not?) to who owns the various forts in each territory, to how to disburse the military. Who owns the F-15s? The submarines?

Is there still such a thing as a Delaware-based corporation? What happens to my social security checks? I paid in. I want it back. The list is so endless I could spend hours on it.

It's just all a silly fantasy. It's fun if you like to write fiction, but other than that, pretty pointless conjecture.
