It's not just junk food.
Take a look at a jar of organic spaghetti sauce.
Sugar is right up there near the top of the ingredient list. Organic breads? Same.
You don't need sugar in spaghetti sauce. Finding sugar-free products, even those that are supposed to be healthy, is mind-numbingly difficult.
I screw up all the time. I'll pick up a nice healthy looking 12 grain bread and forget to check the ingredients. Then I go home and see sugar in there.
The U.S. needs a wholesome food seal that can be trusted. Doesn't have to be organic. Or maybe a "sugar-free" seal. Or should I say, "Free of all sugars", since there are so many ways for food companies to cheat.
There IS a market for this. The first food company that offers a brand called "NEVER SUGAR" will become an instant hit.
== EDIT == I'll add that the food chemist who came up with Captain Crunch Crunch Berries should have received royalties. I still yearn for that stuff.
