It's disheartening to see those who should be Biden's allies pick up on conservative talking points about the "chaotic" withdrawal of Afghanistan.
ANY withdrawal from Afghanistan would have been ugly. How long were we supposed to stay there? Another twenty years? We should never have been in there in the fist place. I say more about that here: https://medium.com/politically-speaking/afghanistan-demonstrates-the-folly-of-bipartisanship-98cf71d1f1a4
As for Harris, we don't know yet how competent or incompetent she is. If we compare her to Mike Pence, all she has to do is open her mouth to prove her superiority. But she hasn't really been tested much. A few media gaffes are only newsworthy to those who are looking for flaws.
Besides, the assumption is always that the VP is a president in waiting, whereas historically, it is actually far from a guarantee they will even be a lasting front runner for the nomination.
Biden is not going to resign over the failures of previous administrations in Afghanistan. He cut and run. Somebody had to. And he's in perfectly good health. His brain seems fine, yet I still hear people I know who should know better spreading far right talking points about how "someone else" is in charge. Luckily I haven't seen that on Politically Speaking. Yet.
Conservatives are so good at spreading their talking points to the mainstream that even those on the left do it sometimes (me included at times). Everyone conveniently has forgotten who started this endless war. I wonder how long it will take until people blame Biden for the assholes who won't get vaccinated as the death count starts to tick up again.
