I think the museum was privately funded, so it doesn't really reflect the thinking of the state's politicians. "Between the World and Me" should be required reading in every school, especially white majority schools.

Charleston is the capital of The Carolina Union, a black majority nation in my alternative history novel, Restive Souls, so it has a special place in my heart :-)
