Great review. I don't know if I could watch it if something further happens to her. I've been close to too many women who've experienced the worst outcome of this kind of thing, so viewing it on film is not something I can really do.

Sounds like it could have been called "Sam and the Two Bears."

The advance from Matt while dad was drunk doesn't surprise me. Matt betrays two people here: the girl he's there to help protect (although it was clear to me from the very beginning of your review that would not be the case), and his friend, Chris.

The betrayal by Chris against his daughter is particularly gross. Nothing will ever be the same between the two again. I can easily imagine a sequel set 25 years later in which she hasn't spoken to him once during that time, and she has become a loud voice against rape culture.
