Still, I consider the current pope at least marginally more enlightened than his predecessors, so just as Fox News anti-immigration thinking seeps into the body politic to the point where something like 60% of Americans are now endorsing Trump's immigration policies, the Pope's admonitions toward compassion seep through, too.

Perhaps enough for a very surprising vote like this? And yeah, I'm very surprised.

I'll always have a soft spot for Wiccans. One of my best friends at the time (it was a long time ago) blessed a new house I bought in the Wiccan way. I was very appreciative. :-)
