I'm semi-retired from software dev these days - trying like hell to get fully retired - but I never see Teams used for the freelance jobs I work. Where are the users in that graph? Are they admin types? Lawyers? Payroll people?
That's my bet. Not software developers.
Slack has its own niche, right?
Also, I don't get the comp in the first place. Slack is owned by Salesforce. I doubt they give even one small crap about Teams.
As for chatGPT, once it can write hyperbole as well as I can, I'll worry. Right now it's just a big fat pile of scraped data. Sparrow will be the same.
So where do we want to get our aggregated scraped data presented as everyday conversation? I suspect from both companies. They're spending scads of money on this stuff.
A better comp would be Azure v. AWS.
Azure is making significant inroads on AWS dominance. Nadella knows software. I wouldn't underestimate him if I was a competitor. At the same time, there's room for both companies to thrive.
