I'm not sure what people in my demographic are afraid of. How anyone can push back against diversity is beyond my reckoning.

If they're afraid of jobs competition, I would say to them, just work harder. That sounds very Republican and libertarian, which is the polar opposite of my political views, but it should at least speak to them.

I'm a software guy and plenty of people in my line of work have complained about the influx of various "foreigners" for years, particularly Indians.

I'm 62 and still relevant. I just keep up with my skills, keep learning new things, and have no problem finding work. In fact, I thought I was retired but I can't seem to stay unemployed, lol. So I'm still at it.

And as a writer, also, there is a current push towards POC writers within the editorial world. And it seems like all the literary agents are women! :-) The only real effect I've seen on white writers with that is that racist writing is not tolerated (except by racist pubs, of course). That can't be a bad thing. There are plenty of writing opportunities. I'm glad to see that begin to open up a bit. If I was a POC, I'd be wary - wondering if it is real.
