I'm no fan of crypto but this seemed awfully excessive to me. I'll also admit to not knowing a lot of details of the case, which the judge obviously has privy to.

Still, it's just money, sorry to say. People shouldn't spend the bulk of their adult lives for something like this. If he really ripped people off (like I said, I don't know the details), take all his money, give it to the people he hurt, and make him start over again. If what is left is not enough, make him pay a percentage of his future earnings to his victims.

Sticking him into a cement cave doesn't do anybody any good at all. America's determination to maintain a mass incarceration infrastructure that focuses on punishment instead of rehabilitation is maddening.
