I'm living in Georgia (temporarily). It's the only state I've lived in, including Texas, where white people, on a regular basis, make negative remarks about a person's skin color or ethnicity as soon as that person is (maybe) out of earshot, and ASSUME I will think the same way.
"Well, he's Black (or Asian, or Mexican, or whatever), so what did you expect?"
At least in other states I've lived in, people sort of know racism is bad. Here, they wear racism proudly on their sleeves. And the assumption is, because of my age and skin color, I'm a racist.
Oddly, Black folks do NOT make that assumption about me. It's just the whites that do.
Atlanta is becoming a center of Black power, which just pisses off these people to no end, lol.
And Warnock, Abrams and a few others scare the living crap out of these people. Which is crazy, because the center of power in Atlanta has already shifted, and the last time I looked, white folks are still doing just fine.
But that's what this voting bill is all about, right? Preventing a statewide shift in the balance of power.
It's not going to work. Abrams and company will just dig in her heels, Warnock will win again in 2022, and the march towards egalitarianism will continue. In fact, I'm going to stick around just long enough to vote in 2022, when I think Kemp has to run again. This time, he'll lose.
