I'm getting a late start in my writing career (because I was busy with other careers that paid better) and I relate to the social media concerns. I've stayed off them because I find them so toxic.

The God I believe in respects your atheism because a true, good God respects and loves everything about a person.

Hang in there. A lot more people respect you than don't - it's just that the people who don't also have no respect for most people and are toxic substances. Those who respect you are quiet and simply read and enjoy your stories without speaking out about it.
