I'm definitely making chump change on Medium, but I want to write what I want to write.

Those who say you need to write for your audience are probably correct -- if you're looking to make money. I'm mostly writing to express my opinions, some of which are not necessarily mainstream.

I do think that next article I write, however, will feature a picture of a pretty girl no matter the topic, just to get a few more clicks.
