I'm an urban dweller living alone. Without a car. Uber is a bit of a lifeline for me. I take it whenever I need to get somewhere I can't walk to.
I even use Uber Eats, but I doubt I help their bottom line much. I always wait until I get a 40% off promo, then I look for 2 for 1 deals for stuff that keeps well (no to gyros, yes to pasta and curries). The cost of using it that way is actually pretty reasonable if you stick to it.
I don't shop with Uber. That experience has been pretty awful. I'm a frequent walker so walking to the store is fine if I'm not carrying heavy loads, and there are better alternatives for grocery delivery.
So this Medium user is very glad to see this article that suggests not only stability, but a good "why" for it. I may loathe late stage capitalism, but that doesn't mean I don't use it!
