If I didn't need any software than photo and/or illustration stuff I'd ditch my Adobe Creative Suite subscription in a second. Gimp really is about as good as Photoshop and is definitely all most people need. The price for subscribing to just Photoshop (for example) is crazy, but the full suite is (in my opinion) worth the price if you're using all of it frequently.

I use InDesign because it offers excellent publishing capabilities and makes it very easy to create eBooks (for KDP and others) with the correct layout and output.

The suite also includes After Effects and Adobe Premier for movie editing, and enough stock images that I don't need to buy any elsewhere.

There's a lot more in the suite but I don't want to sound like an Adobe marketer.

Adobe also does horrible things like track your use of its software with the dubious claim that they want to use the data for AI pattern development.

You know the old saying "There oughta be a law?" Well, there oughta be a law.

So I say, break away if you can and use one of these products in this article. One of these days, I'll probably break away, too, if only because of their user tracking policies.
