I'd say there is no way to answer these questions because both were written 2000 years ago, then translated several times, mostly by male scribes with agendas.

The attempts by church hierarchies, mostly men, to create canon out of multiple conflicting books can only be looked upon from the context of their effort to seize and/or maintain power for the male-dominated hierarchies.

The apocryphal books were lost or damaged, not by bad luck or accident. They were ignored because they didn't fit the agenda, so they were swept away, spoiled, and forgotten.
