I was having a discussion about this, sort of, with someone yesterday. He's a Republican (sort of) and we were talking about how politics attracts the wrong kind of people in every country.

Look at China - a bully president who keeps massive internment camps for Uighurs and keeps Tibet in a virtual lockdown.

Russia - Putin, who poisons his opposition and shuts down any big media company that doesn't tow the line. It would be like MSNBC getting shut down by Trump, or Fox by Biden (although, I frankly would cheer if that happened).

Many, many other countries are headed by autocrats and, for lack of a better word, turds.

It seems like there are a few European countries doing okay, and New Zealand, of course. Japan.

But not many. We can count the okay places on two hands.
