I understand there's a lot of angst about this, but I wrote about this crap more than a year ago. Nothing has changed, really, and there is a built-in tech bro reason for all of it that afflicts almost every tech start up at one point or another.

The fact that Medium obfuscates its earnings algorithm hurts (our earnings) more than it helps (trying to bust AI and spammers). The solution would require a rewrite of the algorithm, which I don't think they have the resources for.
