I understand that in huge ways. I don't even remember much from childhood. I'm talking about a few token memories. I blocked out almost everything, and a few things I wish I had blocked out further. Years of therapy never got my memories back, but they at least kept me a bit closer to sanity than I otherwise would have been.
My favorite therapist by far, one who probably saved my life, was a pastoral counselor. PhD in religious studies and psychology, lol. Exactly what I needed at the time!
Thanks for sharing your stories about your mother. I don't wish anything bad upon you, so I'm obviously not glad for your experiences in that regard, but when you share them, people who have had bad experiences with their family members don't feel as alone in the world.
