I think there are SOME people these days who try to avoid work.

But, about that.

Anybody who actually DOES tend to avoid work all I can say is - I don't blame you.

Housing costs are exponentially higher than when I was young. I could pay for college by working a summer job at a grocery store. Seriously. Yes. I was able to do that. These days it'll buy kids a few lattes.

I can only imagine the frustration of finding nothing but crap work. There are a few good, high paying jobs and everything else is demeaning garbage.

I'm lucky, my line of work pays well but I had to un-semi-retire myself and plunge back into doing software development because I don't have enough to retire on.

I tell ya' though, I don't feel sorry for myself. I feel bad for anyone under, hell, 50, who is trying to get a good, satisfying job. And even then, half the time they get laid off in Ayn Rand's corporate feed the rich economy.
