I probably don't follow as much as I should in general but I like this set of rules for yourself.

When I follow, sometimes I'm not careful enough, too. The other day I followed somebody who had thousands of followers even though they opened their account in June 2024.

I was sloppy there and didn't notice until I followed. I was going to unfollow, but got distracted by a Zoom call for a project I'm working on, and lost track of who it was.

Not a big deal. But I'm curious how someone gets thousands of followers in two months. They weren't famous or anything.
