I love Bernie but the way he kept getting hammered in the South during both sets of primaries (2016 and 2020) was all I needed to know about how he'd do with rural voters.

Democratic socialists - which FDR was and which Republicans who keep pushing for endless military funding and wars are in their own diseased way, could resolve the rural vote issue by simply connecting with rural voters on a WPA 2.0 type of jobs new deal that allows them to work with their hands, which is all they really want at the end of the day.

Give them that and their racism will pipe down. Their kids aren't having any of their racism anyway, for the most part, except for the fringe 4Channers.

Rural voters don't want job retraining programs where they work in call centers for tech companies. They want to work with their hands. So let them do that. A WPA 2.0 that focuses on rebuilding their small towns will change the vote from 80% red to 80% blue. I don't understand why Democrats can't figure out such a simple solution.
